The Educational Cluster of South-East Finland arranged in September an event in Kouvola: What is done to help the progress of Export Education both on national and regional level?
Rector of the Adult Education Centre Ms Leena Kaivola in her welcome words stated that Finnish education is highly appreciated in many countries. She also feels that Finns have much to give in terms of educational methods and knowledge.
Development Manager in the Ministry of Culture and Education Mr Jouni Kangasniemi informed about changes in legislation, which have been made to support export of education. E.g. starting this year Universities are able to charge tuition free from foreign students outside of EU. In the spring this year Ministry has participated in a working group, which has prepared strategy for export of professional education. On national level Export Education of Finland (EEF) is a programme established to promote Education of Finland abroad. See video presentation of EEF.
Other speakers including coordinator of the Cluster Ms Virve Obolgogiani/ComDe Ltd, Ms Auli Haapajärvi/Kouvola Region Professional College, Mr Ari Kultanen/ProAgria, Mr Jussi Sireeni/Adult Education Centre, Pia Nuuttila/Kymenlaakso University of Applied sciences and Ms Irina Shchukina/ComDe Ltd highlighted some samples of educational products, which are successfully marketed by the cluster members to foreign customers. Products are also presented on the website of the cluster: www.ecsef.fi.
They also pointed out the importance of working together and creating networks for success on foreign markets. The cooperation of the Cluster is aimed to Russian market and other CIS countries. Members of the Cluster are solely active also in many other countries.
As Mr Kangasniemi noticed, the Cluster can also take the role nationally to open possibilities for Finnish educational organizations in Russia. This has also been the vision of the Cluster, which is keen on looking for new partners interested in international cooperation and business activities in the field of education.
